culture shock

Culture shock is a term used to describe the anxiety and feelings (of surprise, disorientation, confusion, etc.) felt by an individual caused by coming into contact with an entirely different social environment, such as a foreign country. It often relates to the inability to assimilate the new culture, causing difficulty in knowing what is appropriate and what is not. Often this is combined with strong disgust (moral or aesthetical) about certain aspects of the foreign culture.Culture shock has its own common symptoms, in four stages. The first is the honeymoon stage, which lasts a few weeks. In this stage, people perceive everything around them as great. The next stage is shock, described above. After that, there is negotiation, wherein people work to resolve the differences in culture. Finally, acceptance. With acceptance, people realize that there are both good and bad things about the culture, and they can work with it.Because it is so subjective, the experience of culture shock is hard to convey in rows of numbers or even statistically significant general tendencies of "most" people. We will focus on the experience of culture shock as described by undergraduate college students visiting different countries around the world. What do people say when they are going through culture shock? What do they feel? What do they think? We'll try to answer some of those questions in the students' own words as they describe the critical incidents that happened to them in culturally different settings.Culture shock is the process of initial adjustment to an unfamiliar environment. This psychological construct of culture shock has been used to describe the adjustment process in its emotional, psychological, behavioral, cognitive, and physiological impact on individuals. In a multicultural context, culture shock is a more or less sudden immersion into a nonspecific state of uncertainty where the individuals are not certain what is expected of them or of what they can expect from the persons around them. The term of culture shock was first introduced by Kalvero Oberg (1960) to describe the anxiety resulting from not knowing what to do in a new culture. The familiar cues have been removed or have been given a different meaning, resulting in responses ranging from a vague discomfort to profound disorientation. The recent literature recognizes that culture shock applies to any new situation, job, relationship, or perspective requiring a role adjustment and a new identity. In a broader and more general sense, culture-shock applies to any situation where an individual is forced to adjust to an unfamiliar social system where previous learning no longer applies.

RIGHT TO CULTURE

Right to culture is a human right to partake in culture, to enjoy it and to have a chance for some contributions to the culture without interference from the government. According to it, every individual has right to protect the ethical importance of any cultural, scientific, creative or mythical invention. According to human rights law, protection of culture includes two notions. Firstly, protection of culture in international law covers the scientific pursuits of community. Secondly, peoples have right to practice and continue shared activities and traditions.Special provisions have been implemented regarding the responsibilities of aggressive parties during war. The duty of states to protect and respect world cultural places has particularly been toughen through treaties. Such issues have been increased in recent conflicts in Afghanistan with the bombing on world cultural places and also the conflicts in Iraq with the failure to prevent the pillaging of antiques from museums. State parties have a compulsion to take steps necessary for the development, distribution and protection of science and culture in order to guarantee the full realization of this right.Governments are mostly expected to integrate cultural studies in their education syllabus through the coaching of civilizations, foreign languages and cultural tradition. Cultural education is seen as a means of enhancing stability and peace and in racial disputes and warfare tribal.According to Article 27 of the UDHR (Universal Declaration of Human Rights) and Article 15 of ICESCR (International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights) Each person has the right to take part in the cultural life of society, to benefit from scientific growth, and to contribute in science and culture. Each person has the right to protect the ethical importance of any cultural, scientific, creative or mythical invention. State parties should take steps necessary for the development, distribution and protection of science and culture in order to guarantee the full realization of this right.

health and wellness tips for college students

many college students feel they can’t really find the time to keep up on their personal health and wellness until an illness catches hold and stops them in their tracks. With most colleges providing health care and endless physical activities for students, staying healthy in college is about as easy as it will ever get. There are several ways that students by doing them can have health and wellness life in their education life. First way is about their diet. Without careful attention to their diet, they could end on putting on the freshman 15 and more. For example by eating vary meals, eating breakfast, drinking water and eating fruits. Second way is about sleep. College students aren’t exactly known for their early to bed early to raise attitudes, but getting sleep is an integral part of staying healthy. For example they should avoid all-nighters I mean that you don’t need to study all night to do well because you might be doing yourself a disservice. Another example maybe create bedtime routine which their body after a few weeks of practice this should help you fall asleep when they need to.to sum up, there are several ways to be healthy during our education life that I mention some of them above.

High school vs. College

A good education is an important part of life. To achieve a good education, a person should attend both high school and college. Although high school has a lot in common with college, but there are som difference  betwen them . After graduating from high school and enrolled into college and noticed that there are many differences between them. A few of these differences include the attitude and responsibilities of the teachers and students and the amount of work given to the students.
To begin with, there are many ways in which the attitudes of the teachers in high school are different from the attitudes of the professor’s in college. In high school teachers seemed to be stricter and have more rules for the students to follow. The teachers  also responsible for making sure each student obeyed these rules to the fullest extent and carried out disciplinary actions for those who did not obey them. One example in which a teacher has taken on a disciplinary action  when a student com late or skip their scheduled and the teacher wrote the student up and gave them detention. Whereas, in college if a student is late or they skip the class for whatever reason the teacher usually doesn’t take any action because in college it’s not up to the professor to worry about if you miss class or not, you pay to go to college so if you want to not go and waste your money that’s not the professors problem or responsibility.
Then, the amount of work given to a high school student also differs from the amount of work given to a college student. Generally in high school you have about 8 classes that you alternate to throughout the day and each class most likely gives you homework. Homework is given to students in high school mostly everyday because you’re learning something new every day.   Now in college a professor will rarely give out homework. Now a day in college, students are writing notes more and just studying their books of the...
